A Story…  The lady wept bitterly, mournfully, aloud.  She sat on the curb beside our church, oblivious to others.  My heart was moved.  I went to comfort her, whatever her distress.  The Pastor stepped out of the doorway to intercept me. “Leave her alone,” he said.  “The Spirit is convicting her of her sins; she is repenting.  God is doing a good work just now.  Don’t stop it.”      Story from:  Catch Your Breath

Work on it.  Build a bonfire; consider God’s fiery, holiness. Search Scripture for fire and holiness.  Ask, what in my life holds me away from your holiness?  What sin, what idols keep me at arm’s length from You? Are my children an idol?  Throw a picture of them into the flames.  Ask the Lord, “What do you want of me? Do I show contempt for your kindness?  “God’s kindness leads you toward repentance.” Romans 2:4.

Note: This is a great group activity. It is biblical to confess our sins to one another, subdues self-deception. James 5:16   Testimonies fuel revival.

----------------------------

Xtras!   Not well practiced in confession?  Use this ancient confession: Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone.  We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.  We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.  For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name.  Amen.”

Every time we confess our sins, Christ gains unhindered access to work in us, first forgiveness and then deliverance.  We are little by little set free from our inward sinfulness every time we make a sincere confession of defeat.     (From:  O. Hallesby’s “Under His Wings,” chapter “Fear of the Lord.” )
